TYfu Project Services Overview

The aim of the project is to support, educate, enhance, and inspire adults with Autism and Learning difficulties.  We give our service users the opportunity to develop and learn new skills, across a range of areas and as part of a tailored programme of personal enhancement. All of this is conducted in the safe and familiar, work-placed environment of Malpas Court Mansion House and with Community supported by trained staff.

The 5 key themes are;

Café / Catering Assistance / Cooking

Gardening, Horticulture & Outdoors Activity

Independent Living & Personal Enhancement

Training & Discussion Groups

Health & Wellbeing

We aim for our people to enjoy the experience, feel comfortable and accomplished, and take pride in becoming part of the workforce, building and sustaining relationships with staff and fellow trainees.

Principally, we would want to achieve integration, enrichment, participation, and self-determination with the opportunity to obtain qualifications and training. We aim to achieve this through understanding what our service users wants and needs are and them trusting us to help them achieve, whilst ensuring quality of process and enjoyment. We will follow a structure designed around the needs and capabilities of our trainees whilst remaining flexible in our thinking/approach and being open minded.

The level of support is matched to the person's needs and capabilities in each activity within a given theme. Each service user has an Individual developement Plan in place which is person-centred and enables us to consider important junctions for development, as part of our review process. We record and monitor milestones to demonstrate what has been achieved and what might be possible in the future. Individual preferences and the involvement of the person are central to the work we do and programme of learning that the users follow.

We always adopt and practise a person-centred approach and compliment each individual within a group activity. Whilst the support provided must be appropriately sufficient, the aim is to promote independence, by only giving as much support as is needed. Levels of assistance are consistently reviewed and will be gradually reduced, when deemed to be practicable.

The project is designed to make sure the people that need support have the chance to be fully involved in their lives and receive the right range and level of support to be successful.
